Fairhope Brewing Co

Fairhope Brewing Company bills itself as Lower Alabama’s craft brewery. It grew out of a question its founders kept asking in 2012: why didn’t the region have a local craft brewery? Michele Kane first had the idea during a stretch in Alaska, and a team that included local homebrewer Dan Murphy and Free the Hops president Gabe Harris set out to build the area’s first production craft brewery since Prohibition. The first batch went in on December 21, 2012, the date some said the Mayan calendar foretold the end of the world, and the Fairhope taproom opened in January 2013 with two beers, Everyday Ale and Section Street Wheat. The lineup now includes six year-round beers plus seasonal and experimental releases, sours and seltzers. Fairhope beer is sold across Alabama and in parts of Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. The brewery offers tours, private events and kegs.
