Braided River Brewing Company

Braided River Brewing Company is a brewery and family-friendly taproom on St. Louis Street in downtown Mobile, founded by David Nelson. Its name and outlook come from the nearby Mobile-Tensaw River Delta, often called America’s Amazon for its biodiversity, where several rivers slow, spread out and weave together before reaching the bay. The brewery sees beer as a way to slow down and connect people while celebrating the outdoors. The taproom keeps a range of beers on draft, mostly easy-drinking session ales along with plenty of experimental releases, and hosts trivia and a run club. Sustainability is a priority: the brewhouse was designed to recover heat and reuse water, spent grain goes to a local farmer for feed, and returned can carriers are reused. Some beers are brewed with local oyster shells, and part of their sales supports oyster reef restoration in Alabama.
