Straight to Ale

Straight to Ale is a Huntsville brewery started in 2009 by local homebrewers who wanted to make good beer worth sharing. What began as experimentation grew into a production brewery known for creative brewing and community ties. In 2016 it moved into a 45,000-square-foot space at Campus 805, which let it expand production, and today it makes both beer and cider there. The campus has since grown to include the Shelta Cavern Spirits distillery, the scratch kitchen at Ale’s Kitchen, Campus Grounds Coffee and the Lipz Lounge, and the brewery rents out a biergarten and a speakeasy for events. RateBeer named Straight to Ale the top brewer in Alabama in 2019, and Huntsville’s mayor proclaimed a Straight to Ale Day in its honor. Its Anti Temperance Society membership offers perks such as crowlers, early releases and special events.
