Old Black Bear Brewing

Old Black Bear Brewing Company runs a taproom on Main Street in Madison, a gritty room known for its beer and hearty food. Owner and brewer Todd Seaton leads the brewing under the company motto that hard work has its reward, and a second taproom operates in Athens. The flagship is Cave City Lager, a crisp amber lager with noble hops. Other beers poured in Madison have included Roaming Bear, a roasted porter with a hoppy finish; Triple Bogey, a golden, spicy Belgian tripel with fruity esters; Milepost 652, a malty extra special bitter; Hazy Train, a juicy, cloudy IPA; and Smooth Sailin’, a light blonde ale with strawberry. The Madison taproom has its own general manager and front-of-house team and a full food menu, and Old Black Bear also sells gift cards.
